Job description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, tracking transactions and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.                                                        

Employing standard accounting principles and procedures, you will maintain the company’s financial records, track transactions, reconcile accounts and prepare timely and accurate financial reports.  Reporting to the CFO and working closely with Human Resources, Accounting and Administration, you will maintain a variety of schedules and reports to assist with sales and operational analysis, budgeting and forecasting. You will also be responsible for the timely reconciliation and remittance of various taxes and source deductions.  

Specific functions include:

• Daily cash flow management and forecast updates.

• Reconcile bank accounts, loan accounts and G/L.

• Post reconciling and recurring journal entries and balance intercompany accounts.

• Calculate and remit HST, WSIB and EHT in a timely manner.

• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules.

• Oversee preparation and accuracy of bi-weekly payroll and upload into G/L; ensuring costs are allocated to the correct accounts, departments and locations.

• Review the posting of all receivable and payable entries for accuracy.

• Perform month-end closings and prepare accurate business unit financial and operational report to meet internal deadlines.

• Document, test and maintain business processes and internal controls.

• Prepare working papers for year-end review and external audits.


Qualifications


  • Post-secondary accreditations in Accounting or Bookkeeping with minimum 3 years work experience.  
  • Strong analytical skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, cloud-based accounting software and on-line payroll systems.
  • Experience with Xero Accounting and ADP Payroll an asset.  
  • Strong understanding of and experience working with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) to clearly and effectively interface with co-workers, Executive team, government employees, bankers and external accountants. 
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to stay on task and meet deadlines.
